How it is calculated

  • Provident fund is 12% of PF wages. PF wages are the larger of basic pay and half of total pay (the labour-code wage rule), up to the wage ceiling in force that month.
  • The PF wage ceiling is ₹15,000 until the August 2026 salary month and ₹25,000 from the September 2026 salary month (Gazette notification S.O. 5109(E)). The calculator uses the ceiling for the current month.
  • ESIC applies to employees whose monthly gross is within the ESIC wage limit.
  • Professional tax follows the state you work in, and Maharashtra treats women differently.
  • Income tax is the estimated monthly TDS for the regime you choose, with no investment declarations.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my in-hand salary lower than my gross?

Employee PF, ESIC (if eligible), state professional tax and income tax (TDS) are deducted from gross pay. Employer contributions are not deducted from you.

Does the PF ceiling change in 2026?

Yes. The wage ceiling for PF rises from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 from the September 2026 salary month. Contributions on wages above ₹15,000 therefore increase from that month.

Is this the exact amount my employer will pay?

It is an estimate. Your employer may pay PF on a different wage base, apply declarations or give allowances that change tax. Your payslip is the final figure.
