Income tax calculator

Enter your annual salary and your old-regime deductions to see which regime costs less.

Your result will appear here.

How it is calculated

  • Each regime applies its standard deduction, then slab tax, then the Section 87A rebate if your taxable income qualifies.
  • Surcharge applies at higher incomes, with marginal relief so tax never rises by more than the extra income. The new regime surcharge is capped at 25%.
  • Health and education cess of 4% is added to tax plus surcharge.
  • This estimates salary income only. Capital gains, other income and special rates are not included.

Frequently asked questions

Which regime is better for me?

It depends on your deductions. The calculator shows total tax under both so you can compare, using the deductions you enter for the old regime.

Does this include surcharge and cess?

Yes. Surcharge with marginal relief and 4% cess are included for both regimes.

Is the tax-year numbering changing?

From 1 April 2026 the Income-tax Act 2025 applies, and TDS forms are renumbered: Form 24Q becomes Form 138, Form 16 becomes Form 130 and Form 12BB becomes Form 124.
